1) What does GIANT AECS mean?

– Association of Sport and Culture and Overcoming Gigantes.

2) Who is served by AECS Gigantes?
​
– Disabled people who are able to participate in Wheelchair Rugby are served. The modality is mixed and can be practiced by women and men.

3) At what age can people be served by AECS Gigantes?
​
– Wheelchair Rugby offered by the association is aimed at young people and adults. The minimum age to practice is 16 years old, with the presentation of a medical report attesting the aptitude for sports practice.

4) How is inclusion in the association done the first time a person participates in the activity?
​
- An evaluation of the member will be made and he will do an initiation work where he will learn wheelchair handling, ball control, among other activities and when he is able to join the team, he will be included in the competitions we participate and other activities of the institution.

5) What is high yield?
​
- High performance is when the athlete is physically, tactically and disciplinary prepared to participate in Wheelchair Rugby championships that the association disputes.

6) How does the membership policy at AECS Gigantes work?
​
– Any individual or legal entity may apply to join the membership of AECS Gigantes, observing the procedure provided for in the Bylaws.

7) How can I become an AECS Gigantes Institutional Partner?
​
– Companies, Schools, Sports Clubs and other organizations can partner with AECS Gigantes, providing venues for sports activities, contracting our lectures and presentations, offering products and requesting our participation in SIPAT events.

8) Where are AECS Gigantes training currently held?
​
- Training center: CEI Caic Prof. Zeferino Vaz.

9) What is the AECS Gigantes training schedule?
​
The activities are held on Tuesdays and Fridays from 5:30 pm/20:30 pm and on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 12:00 am (except for reasons of greater force).

10) Which championships does AECS Gigantes participate in?
​
– We participate in national and state championships organized by the ABRC (Brazilian Wheelchair Rugby Association) and by Clubs.

11) Can AECS Gigantes receive donations as an association?
​

12) Can disabled people from cities other than Campinas participate in the association?
​
– Yes, the association is open to members from all over Brazil.

14) What sports are offered for practice at AECS Gigantes?
​
– At AECS Gigantes, members will be introduced to Wheelchair Rugby.

15) Who can participate in the initiation project?
​
- People over 16 years old. Wheelchair Rugby is a sport originally developed for athletes with quadriplegia due to spinal cord injury and neuromuscular conditions such as polio. There are now athletes participating in Wheelchair Rugby with conditions other than spinal cord injury and polio, such as muscular dystrophy and various types of central and peripheral nervous system conditions.
In addition, athletes with conditions such as multiple amputations, birth defects in limbs and other similar musculoskeletal conditions are playing Rugby. Athletes with conditions other than neurological impairments may be eligible if the type and severity of impairment result in activity limitation that affects sport performance in a similar way to an athlete with quadriplegia.
